Abstract
In 44 persons who suffered from infectious hepatitis in acute or chronic state or were convalescent, or fell ill of diabetes mellitus with or without liver lesions the bcdy temeprature was artificially increased for a short time by means of pyogenous substances and, moreover, the activity of the serum transaminases was continuously controlled. On these conditions a healthy persons did not show any changes of the serum enzyme activities. The patients with the previously mentioned diseases showed partly distinct partly slight, partly absent changes of the activity of the serum transaminases. Obviously dependent cn the extent of the irritation of the liver cells. In several cases the LDH, SDH, and Aldolase activities were examined. Thus a persisting liver damage can be objectified in certain forms of enlargement of the liver of different origin which in the other case show insignificant chemical blood findings and functional tests of the liver, but behave pathologically under influence of artificially produced fever.
Artificially produced fever can severe as a model of an increased leading test cf the liver cells, as it can be observed in every day life in patients with questionable liver lesions by increased physical work of the supply of unsuitable nourishment,
